Welcome to our website and read us on: A PRIVATE SECONDARY EDUCATION SCHOOL IN ARUSHA MUNICIPALITY, TANZANIA, EAST AFRICA. WITH A SUBSTANTIAL SPONSORED STUDENT POPULATION. OFFERING ORDINARY AND ADVANCE LEVEL EDUCATION,BOARDING AND CATERING SERVICES FOR BOYS AND GIRLS. We help boys and girls at their tender age to get not only Education but Protection and Counseling .... So we have properly fenced our properties and continuously grind our students towards exceeding their parents expectations. When did we start the school: The School began in January 2006, with 57 lovely form one students, five teachers and a score of non teaching staff, the first batch of O-levels graduated October 2010 by then the number had risen to 102. A-Level programme was launched with four students late in the same year (2006) They all passed and most of them went on the universities, they set a good precedent most of our A-level graduants gain requisite qualifications to join tertiary education. There has been an increasing awareness in recent years over the importance of secondary education to students failing to be enrolled in government schools despite having the needed qualifications, not only that but also to give another chance to recover along the way for those who failed exams or deadlines and therefore not allowed in government schools . This has been in line with the government private public partnership policies in the education sub sector, which allows and actually encourages; establishment of private schools. In realization of all this, The Board of Mairiva Limited decided to establish a secondary school in one of its properties, we now think we shall be doing schools and schools only. Why the name Mairiva?
Courses and Services Offered: Mairiva Secondary School is a Co-educational school with Hostel and Catering services for both girls and boys. The school is registered by the Ministry of Education and Vocation Studies of Tanzania (Moe) and it is following the curricular and school running standards issued by the Moe, enabling students to sit for exams by the National Examination of Council of Tanzania (Necta). Students passing Necta exams can join higher learning institutions in Tanzania and elsewhere recognizing the same. Below are courses currently run by the school (iii) Remedial courses for students wishing to re-sit for form four exams popularly known as (pre form five). Some students enroll exclusively for this course while others carry it in parallel with the A-level courses hoping to pass the former in good time before sitting for the A-Level exams. (iv) Looming in the horizon are the adult courses catering for the above three programs to the late comers. The government does not have the same. We have sensed a need of this categorization to enable those of 'wrong' ages to gracefully recover in parallel with their younger sisters and brothers or better still daughters and sons. LOCATION: We are located in Arusha, El'Matejoo area, FROM THE CITY CENTER if you are coming through Arusha Namanga road, you left turn at a bus stand called ''KIBANDA CHA MAZIWA'', if you are coming through Arusha Minjingu road you right turn at a bus stand known as ''SHAMS''. It is about 900m from both ends. There is a a school sign post at the top of each feeder road. once you are in the right feeder road you shall not miss the school gate with its colorful labels. The school on its later stages of growth shall be located on several campuses with ample space for the construction of classrooms, laboratories, theater rooms, dinning halls, dormitories, staff houses and other facilities.
The school is affiliated to a new NGO, ACWF = African Child Welfare Foundation. The NGO Handles volunteers as one of its projects, It does organize, VISA (this means upgrading a tourist visa to a Working VISA class C), VOLUNTEER PLACEMENT (this means work or training attachment), HOME STAYS (this means bed and meals in a home or hostel as you wish) and generally manages the volunteer within Arusha, Moshi and Rombo Districts. A web site for this NGO is currently under construction. The NGO has successfully handled ten (up to june 2011) Volunteers in four cycles originating from Norway, Sweden and Denmark who worked in Schools, orphanages and Hospitals in Moshi and Arusha. HOME STAYS AND VOLUNTEERING is economical to volunteers, it offers a slowed down exposure to local way of life while also giving enough time and choices for exploration of wild life and many natural treasures of this country. You get the best of cultural and game tourism while being useful to the local communities. Your labor and experience is put to a good use and portions of the Fees Charged Shall go to help communities you will be attached to.
